Youth Rugby Summit 2019

The Youth Rugby Summit aims to bring like-minded people together from clubs, schools and partner organisations to learn and share ideas around best practice in youth rugby development.

Our guest speakers are leaders in their field, who will educate and inspire through a range of current topics. There will also be workshops delivered by Scottish Rugby staff and club/school coaches on key areas of the game.

Guest Speakers (more tbc)

• Ben Ryan - Ben coached the Fiji 7s team to Olympic Gold in 2016, and was shortlisted for the World Rugby coach of the year. Ben is a qualified Level 4 coach, and has a teaching background, having been Master at St Edwards school in England.

• Richard Cheetham MBE - Richard is Senior Fellow in Sports Coaching at University of Winchester, and recently won Coach Developer of the Year at the UK Coaching Awards. Richard has a strong reputation on creative thinking and innovation within coach education and development.

• Claire Cruikshank - Claire is Head of Performance Sport at Edinburgh University and is a former Scotland International (5 caps). Claire is also Head Coach of the Edinburgh Univeristy Women's Rugby Team, and is specialist kicking coach to the Scottish Futures squads.

• Paul Kilgannon - Paul is a Teacher, Coach, Sports Coach Educator and Author of Coaching Children in Sport - The CARVER Framework. He has particular interest in Child and Youth Sports Coaching and Athletic Development and has spent his adult life coaching across all age groups.

• Roddy Deans - Roddy is Director of Rugby at Merchiston Castle and coaches within the Scotland U18 representative pathway. Roddy is also a UKCC Level 3 qualified coach.

• Stuart Edwards - Stuart is Head of Rugby at Stewart's Melville College and coaches the Scotland U16 representative pathway. Stuart is also a UKCC Levcl 3 qualified coach.

The summit is FREE of charge.

Further information on the summit programme will be announced shortly. Breakfast and lunch will be available at the event with free parking available at the Emirates Arena.
